IT Working Group
During the years 2009 to 2010 The ICT Working Group have met regularly in the Office and upstairs in the ICT Suite. All pupils and Staff are welcome to any meeting. The group consists of teachers and parents, governors and any other interested parties. We have made significant developments with the ICT provision having this year overseen the installation of a new ICT suite of machines and a new ICT Teacher. This has enabled the introduction of OCR National Certification for any interested pupils. OCR Nationals are GCSE Equivalent and are based on 100% Coursework.
The whole School is now wifi enabled so pupils can use laptops or mobile devices anywhere within the campus.
This website has also been a development this year as is the installation of Iternet filtering to reduce the chance of pupils finding unsavory websites.
All students can now use The Sands School email which is integrated with Google. Also students and staff can use Google Docs to produce work at home with a reduced need for Microsoft Software.
Dropbox – Is also a very useful facility to share work or store work online.
Google Docs
This is an absolutely awesome facility. Everyone at Sands is going to get a google gmail based email system which will include access to Google Docs. This means you can do school work at School, at home or anywhere you like on any computer that has a browser for the Internet. You don’t have to have Microsoft software to do work at home!
