Respect is central to our ethos here at Sands; as a school, as a community and as individuals.  We feel that having an awareness of world issues is important as it helps us to grow as compassionate people and enables us to work together to make a difference.

Amnesty International is a “group of ordinary people from across the world standing up for humanity and human rights”.

Our Amnesty Youth Group meets once a fortnight on a Thursday lunchtime.  Staff and students together use materials provided by Amnesty International to increase our understanding of current human rights violations.  Students take action by signing petitions, sending emails and informing the rest of the school through tutorials of further action that can be taken.

The group is open to everyone and we hope to inspire people to get involved as every signature, every email and every conversation counts.
