Having attended only mainstream schools, I wasn’t even aware that a place like Sands School could possibly exist. What an absolute joy it has been to become a part of this amazing community and experience a place where students are happy being who they are and confident enough to speak up for what they want and believe in.

My role at Sands is to support the administration of the school, particularly with Health and Safety in mind. I believe it is really important to get the balance right when it comes to Health and Safety and to focus on the real risks with potential to cause harm and to educate as much as possible on risk awareness rather than to avoid risk all together. Play is so important for children and they should be able to learn new skills and take part in exciting and challenging activities while remaining safe! It can be a difficult balance to achieve, but following the Sands ethos the students are willing to help with the process!

I enjoy crocheting, baking, netball, pickleball and and going on adventures as much as possible with my husband and two young boys.
