Congratulations to the fantastic cast and crew of our annual school production Grimm Tales, an evening of some of the best and lesser known tales by the Brothers Grimm adapted for the stage by Carol Ann Duffy. The evening was full of fun, mystery and absurdity; with donkeys that spit gold, tress that birth geese. cudgels that attack and sausages that dance. The audience were not left out of the fun either as they were encouraged to sing and clap along and join the procession of villagers following the Golden Goose.
Good luck to our BTEC exam students, we’re sure you’ll do brilliantly after your stunning performances and a huge congratulations to to everyone that took part and brought their unique talents to the production including mask making, music composition and photography. And a special thanks Heidi for helping pull it all together and supporting our student’s to put on such a fantastic show.

We love a good snow day at Sands. Play brings so much joy, gets our bodies moving and helps us forge new bonds with each other. So when the snow settles on Dartmoor, we seize the day.
Thanks to George for these fantastic photos!

Students at Sands learn music through practice and play, picking up music theory along the way. Our end of term concerts are a wonderful celebration of the term’s hard work and an opportunity for our more serious musicians to showcase their personal projects too. We were blown away by the talent and diversity of music from Rachmaninoff to Oasis.
Thanks as always to Georgia for nurturing their talents and love of music and for putting the show together. Special thanks also this year to Emma and Richard for stepping in and supporting our young bands.

Last term our students staged a production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream as part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival with the final performance at Exeter’s Barnfield Theatre. It was an incredible feat of teamwork, creativity and commitment and we are so proud of everyone who took part.
The Festival’s director Holly Meechan highlighted the students ‘outstanding command of the language’, use of comedy and the way the production managed to ‘showcase the many individual talents of the group’ in her feedback to the cast. Read the full review here.
It wouldn’t have been possible without the effort of so many people, but special thanks have to go to Heidi Ruskin who put everything into this for the past year and to Sam Dightam for the incredible costumes that brought such colour and professionalism to the production.
