Congratulations to all our students and those up and down the country that received the GCSE results they were hoping for today.
Results day is always a little bit of a strange one for us at Sands. On the one hand we are so proud of all our student’s hard work and share in their joy at finding out that it all paid off. On the other hand it always feels odd to distill someone’s learning journey of six years to a few single numbers. No grade can ever tell the story of what that young person has discovered, how much they’ve grown or what struggles they may have overcome. No table can explain that one person’s 4 is another person’s 9.
For the past six years we have treasured watching this year’s leavers grow and learn alongside us and loved watching you mature into the incredible young people you are today.
We can’t wait for you to come back and visit and tell us about all your new adventures. Good luck O1!

Summer camp this year was at Prussia Cove in Cornwall. As you can see from the photos, a great time was had by everyone! The weather was amazing except for that one day where the Atlantic Ocean got up and jumped on the campsite. Nobody got washed away though so that was good. There were plenty of activities including coasteering and surfing, with songs and marshmallows around the campfire on the last night. Everyone was really well behaved (mainly the students) and everyone took part on their duty days without fuss; shopping, cleaning and cooking delicious food! The campsite owner said how amazingly mature and considerate the kids were, and has welcomed us back any time.

We have just had a new LED stage lighting system installed in the Drama Room (AKA East Street Theatre). This is exciting news for students who wish to take lighting as an option choice- as part of the BTEC Performing Arts course. A big thank you to Chris and Ninian (Showbitz) for taking time out of their busy schedule to install and provide the system at a reduced ‘mate’s rate’.
This would not have been possible without the money raised from the last three Drama productions (2020-2023) through ticket sales and Rosie (O1) and her mum raising money through cake sells- BIG THANK YOU!
