A group of students undertook their expedition for their Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award this week with practice last week. It’s a huge achievement to plan a 3 day expedition, they all did brilliantly and had a great time too. Well done!
Thank you to everyone who came to the Summer Festival on Wednesday, what an incredible event and showcase of Sands talent – young and old. And thank you to everyone who helped make food and those that bought cakes. We raised over £400 for the music department! Which will go towards new kit so we can make even more music next year.
Food has always been a central part of the Sands School day. A home cooked, vegetarian meal brings the community together every lunchtime and then we clean up together after. Pizza Fridays this summer have been even more special with everyone chipping in to roll, top or bake. Yum!
When most students are on study leave after finishing their GCSE exams, our final year students are soaking up their last days at Sands School, making their own Ashburton themed Monopoly board. As Ashburton doesn’t have a train station – let alone 4, those were replaced with Ice Cream Shops – How very Devon!
Ready for their exam in September, students are currently rehearsing their two exam monologues during S Slots. They have been working really well in support of each other as well as through self-directed home learning. What a wonderful bunch of young people- a real pleasure to work with. The students should be congratulated on their commitment and hard work.
