Summer at Sands

Summer is in full swing and we’re taking advantage of the good weather here at Sands with wild swimming, creative writing up a tree, feet in the paddling pool, foraging for seaweed, music on the lawn, Pizza Friday with everyone chipping in.  Proving that school can be more than grades. It’s also building memories, relationships and living your best life right now.

Shakespeare Schools Festival

SANDS will be taking part in the Shakespeare Schools Festival- this means that our students will be performing an abridged Shakespeare play in a professional theatre and a series of workshops led by professional directors and facilitators from the festival team.

Students are currently signing-up to become fully fledged members of our performance company, either as performers or production crew. We are keen to involve as many students as possible and as many of their skills as possible, such as circus skills, live music playing, dancing, singing and acting.

As part of the project, company members have all committed to fundraising in order to cover the entrance fee cost (approx. £2000) and any suggestions and/ or support would be highly appreciated.

There is a real buzz of excitement around the school and the students are really, really looking forward to performing on a proper professional stage (and Heidi too!)

Exams over for another year

As of the 21st of June, exams will be over, which is very exciting. Congratulations to everyone who sat exams this summer! Exam students and parents of exam students will be receiving an email from the exams officer regarding results day and post results services that week, so keep an eye on your inboxes!

Work day

A big shout out to our amazing community of parents that came and helped at Saturday’s work day. It takes a lot to look after our lovely school and it makes all the difference when we can come together to show the building and garden some love.

New mural project

Y2 have been working on independent and group projects this year. This is their latest initiative, painting a new mural to brighten up our central staircase. Looking great already!
